Day 8. Monday, January 15. Transformation of my family
Matthew 7:24–27 — 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
Running and playing on the beach with my children, look at the beautiful creation that God had made. It can't be matched. The houses that were next door had a beautiful view towards the sea where they could watch the sunset and enjoy the sound of the sea. But my attention is a particular house. It was big and very beautiful, but it was collapsing. A builder who was there told us that the problem is that many people save money, do NOT invest time and money, and hire people who do not know how to do the job or buy lower quality material. In addition, they do NOT build on the rock. These houses may be beautiful, but sooner than later they will collapse because they are built on sand!
In our family it is the same. We have to invest! Our architect and specialist must be God. He is our foundation. And we have to invest time; praying, being an example, teaching moral and spiritual values. We cannot have a firm house or home, when we are greedy (mean). Our family is our best investment. We need to invest love, words of encouragement, playtime and experiences where we enjoy the laughter of our loved ones.
We also need to have solid foundations. We know that the sand is not firm and everything that is built on it will fall. But if we hold on to the hand of Jesus Christ, we can be confident that when the storm comes (or trouble), our home will be shaken, but not collapsed. Let God be our architect and let Him guide us to have a home designed by him.
