Day 16, Tuesday, January 21:

"Wise Goals for My Family"

– Dorcas

Setting goals are important because they are used to keep us focus on what we want to achieve.

When we talk about wise goals, the question that comes to mind is, what are wise goals for my

family?

Wise goals for my family may be deemed as goals that are inspiring, fulfilling, aligning to the

words of God and therefore spiritually driven. More importantly, they are rooted in morality,

personal values and Christian traditions. According to Matthew 6:33, “seek ye first the Kingdom

of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Consequently, it is very crucial to us as Christian to seek Christ first when we set wise goals for

our families. By doing so, we should make sure that our goals conforms to God’s will in our

decision making. For this reason, the wise goals for my family will include engagement in daily

family devotion, connection to our faith through Christ and attending church services together.

Further, my family and I will continue to focus on living a life that is centered on Christ and His

teaching rather than material things. In addition, all members of my family will continue to serve

God in all manners of their lives. Wise goals my family will also include Salvation for all of mine.

Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart

from it”.

As a person of faith, wise goals are Godly goals in that they involve regular prayer, studying

scriptures together, and bring us into alignment with the word of God. By focusing on these

elements, wise goals encourage individuals and families not merely to achieving the goals that are

set but rather, to think beyond accomplishing the goals to a greater spiritual growth. Thus, our

objectives are to set wise goals that will enrich us morally, emotionally and spiritually.

Action of the day: There is blessing in setting wise goals. As a Family of Service, we will continue

with a heart of service and faith in God in all we do. Read Joshua 24:15 “But as for me and my

house, we serve the Lord”. Besides, I encourage you to continue to engage in actively serving the

church and the community at large.
